Knocking Out OsRLK7-1 Impairs Rice Growth and Development but Enhances Its Resistance to Planthoppers

چکیده
Leucine-rich repeat receptor-like kinases (LRR-RLKs) are an important subfamily of (RLKs) in plants that play key roles sensing different biotic and abiotic stress. However, the role LRR-RLKs herbivore-induced plant defense remains largely elusive. Here, we found expression a rice gene, OsRLK7-1, was induced by mechanical wounding, but slightly suppressed infestation gravid females brown planthopper (BPH, Nilaparvata lugens) or white-backed (WBPH, Sogatella furcifera). Through targeted disruption OsRLK7-1 (resulting ko-rlk lines), observed augmentation transcript levels BPH-induced OsMPK3, OsWRKY30, OsWRKY33, OsWRKY45, alongside heightened planthopper-induced jasmonic acid, JA-isoleucine, abscisic acid tissues. These dynamic changes further facilitated biosynthesis multiple phenolamides within plants, culminating enhanced resistance to infestations under both lab field conditions. In addition, knocking out impaired growth reproduction. results suggest plays regulating growth, development, rice-planthopper interactions.

Current Status of Insecticide Resistance and Virulence to Resistant Rice Varieties in Asian Rice Planthoppers
Insecticide susceptibility and virulence to resistant rice varieties were determined and evaluated in the brown planthopper (BPH) and the whitebacked planthopper (WBPH), collected from Asian countries (Japan, China, Taiwan, northern Vietnam, southern Vietnam, and Philippines) in 2006. Insecticide susceptibility was determined by a topical application method using four insecticides. Virulence to...

Argonaute proteins are key players in gene silencing involving small RNAs. In this issue, Yigit et al. (2006) report a comprehensive study of Argonautes in the worm that places many of the 27 family members into a complex gene-silencing network.

P rotein homeostasis within the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) is essential for cell viability, and its misregulation is implicated in a growing number of diseases, including Alzheimer’s disease, diabetes, and cancer (1–3). Consequently, the pharmacological manipulation of this pathway is of broad scientific and clinical interest. A variety of drugs have been used to model specific types of stresse...
متن کامل“Knocking out” a Neural Circuit
Although the visual system occupies nearly half of the mammalian brain, we still do not completely understand its first synaptic stage. One reason is that the dendrites postsynaptic to photoreceptors comprise such a maze of fine processes that doubt remains whether all the second order circuits have been identified—even after 4 decades of electron microscopy. Now advanced functional methods app...
متن کاملKainate receptors: knocking out plasticity.
There is increasing evidence that kainate receptors contribute to both postsynaptic and presynaptic signaling. Studies of knockout mice have played a pivotal role in defining the functions of kainate receptors, including a recent study that implicates kainate receptors in frequency-dependent facilitation and long-term potentiation of hippocampal mossy fiber synapses.
